“Know Your Genotype Love Week Campaign”, February 14th to 17th, 2018
During the Know Your Genotype Love Week Campaign held at the Accra Mall in February 2018, the SCSGGhana team took it upon itself to educate the public on Sickle Cell Disease (SCD) and the need for them to know their genotype, to make informed decisions.
We discovered that many Ghanaians had not taken a test to know their genotype and those who had even done the test had forgotten what their genotypes were.
Having kids with SCD can be avoided if everyone, not only knew their genotype, but also made informed decisions about choosing a life partner.
The program had us giving our time and love to the society during the Valentine’s week. Our volunteers were really very cooperative and very excited. It was a fruitful and fun week.
Our partners were: Accra Mall Management, MDS-Lancet Laboratories, YFM 107.9, Skill Up Africa, Egalitarian Recording Studios, Alpha Beta Education Centers and Inkit Ghana.
